Colophon
How this site is made, and where it is still wrong. The second part is the useful one.
- Framework
- Next.js 16, App Router, output: export — every page is static HTML
- Styling
- Tailwind CSS v4, one column, 68 characters wide
- Type
- Inter, self-hosted at build time by next/font, one woff2, no Google request
- Host
- Cloudflare Pages, deployed from this machine with wrangler
- JavaScript
- The framework runtime only — about 190 KB, for a page that needs none
Where it is still wrong
This is a text site. It ships about 190 KB of JavaScript because the framework does, not because anything on the page needs it. If I rebuilt it tomorrow I would use Astro or plain HTML and ship nothing. That is the one decision here I would take back.
Dark mode follows the system. There is no toggle, because a half-tuned second palette is worse than one palette that works. Every text colour clears 4.5:1 in both schemes.
